We were forced to endure a frustrating painful pathetic exciting game against the Washington Redskins yesterday. The very overrated 5-3 Washington Redskins squared off against a very under achieving Eagles team in a game that will never be included in the archives of the NFL’s greatest games. As a result, it was nothing that transpired on the field of play that got my ire going, instead it was the CLUELESS hosts and the odd caller into the 610-WIP post-game show.

As Eric Lindros announces his retirement today in London, Ontario – I find myself reflecting on what was an intensely exhilarating, frustrating and controversial 8 years as a Philadelphia Flyer. From the moment that Larry Bertuzzi awarded the “Next One” to the Flyers in a bizarre arbitration case, the hopes of an entire city starved for another Stanley Cup were placed on the broad shoulders of the man-child from Canada. Short of winning a Stanley Cup (which of course he never did), there was almost no chance that he was going to fulfill the gargantuan expectations that befell him. What he did give us however was a story almost as epic as many of the great Greek tragedies.
